Greene County softball survived an error-filled game and fought back to beat Roland-Story Tuesday night, 8-7, after giving up a six-run lead on Senior Night for the Rams. It was the fourth consecutive win for the Rams, who are now 8-15 overall and 5-7 in Heart of Iowa play.
Taking a 6-0 lead early on in the game on the back of three Roland-Story errors and solid pitching from Emma Hoyle, the Rams gave up six straight runs and committed six errors. However, the hitting of Megan Carey and Izzy Bravard — who each recorded two hits — helped the Rams take the lead once again after three more errors from Roland-Story. Carmyn Paup, Tieryn Tucker, Karissa Stephenson, Emma Stream and Jenna Beyers recorded the rest of Greene County’s hits.
Hoyle struck out seven batters, the most Ks she’s recorded in a game this season. She walked three batters and gave up eight hits. Five of the Norse’ runs were earned.
Megan Carey and Jenna Beyers were honored for Senior Night.
Up next is a game Thursday against Gilbert on the road. The Tigers are 13-15 on the season.
